The Bryant Bulldogs will play at the Akron Zips in 2021, the school has announced.
Bryant will travel to take on Akron at InfoCision Stadium – Summa Field in Akron, Ohio, on Sept. 18, 2021. The contest will mark the first-ever meeting between the two schools.
Bryant is a member of the Northeast Conference (NEC) in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS). The Bulldogs finished the 2018 season 6-5 overall and 2-4 in conference play.
Bryant’s first-ever matchup against a team from the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) is scheduled for Sept. 26, 2020. The Bulldogs will travel to Mount Pleasant to take on the Central Michigan Chippewas.
Akron is the second scheduled non-conference opponent for Bryant for the 2021 season. The Bulldogs are also scheduled to play at Rhode Island on Sept. 11.
FCS teams will play 11-game schedules during the 2021 season. As a member of the NEC, Bryant plays a seven-game conference schedule, so they can schedule up to four non-conference contests.
The addition of Bryant tentatively completes Akron’s 2021 non-conference schedule. The Zips are scheduled to open the season at Auburn on Sept. 4, host Temple on Sept. 11, and travel to take on Ohio State on Sept. 25.
