The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers and the Duquesne Dukes have agreed to reschedule their postponed football game in 2020 to the 2023 season.
The date of the rescheduled contest is listed on the official athletics website of Coastal Carolina University. Additionally, we verified with CCU sports information that the game was in fact rescheduled and is not a new agreement.
Coastal Carolina was previously scheduled to host Duquesne on Saturday, Sept. 19, 2020, but the game was canceled due to the novel coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.
Coastal Carolina will now host Duquesne at Brooks Stadium in Conway, S.C., on Saturday, Sept. 16, 2023. CCU will pay Duquesne a $300,000 guarantee for the contest, according to the copy of the original contract.
Duquesne is a member of the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) and competes in the Northeast Conference (NEC). The Dukes are scheduled to kickoff their postponed fall season this weekend on Sunday, March 7 at home against Sacred Heart.
The addition of Duquesne completes Coastal Carolina’s non-conference schedule for the 2023 season. The Chanticleers are scheduled to open the season on the road against UCLA on Sept. 2. CCU will also host Liberty on Sept. 9 and will travel to take on Army on Nov. 18.
Duquesne now has two non-conference opponents for their 2023 schedule. The Dukes are also slated to play at West Virginia on Sept. 9.
