ULM at Florida State canceled due to Hurricane Irma

Saturday’s game between the ULM Warhawks and the Florida State Seminoles in Tallahassee has been canceled due to Hurricane Irma, both schools announced on Thursday.

“In the interest of safety of individuals throughout the state, and to allow our student-athletes, staff and fans to prepare for a storm of significant magnitude, we have decided to cancel all athletics events including the ULM football game on Saturday,” said FSU President John Thrasher. “The cancellations will help reduce the consumption of fuel and congestion on major travel arteries.”

The ULM-Florida State game will likely not be made up as the two teams do not share the same off week.

“The cancellation of Saturday’s ULM football game at Florida State was the prudent decision to make, especially given the emergency weather situation that exists in the state of Florida,” ULM Athletics Director Nick Floyd said. “Obviously, law enforcement and emergency management resources will be stretched thin throughout the state due to the magnitude of Hurricane Irma. Our thoughts and prayers are with the residents and first responders of the state as preparation for projected landfall continues.”

Florida State’s next scheduled game is at home vs. in-state rival Miami on Saturday, Sept. 16. The game is slated for 8:00pm ET on ABC.

ULM next game is home at Malone Stadium against Southern Miss, also on Sept. 16. The game is scheduled for 7:00pm ET/6:00pm CT on ESPN3.
