The Arkansas State Red Wolves have completed their 2014 non-conference football schedule, Director of Athletics Terry Mohajir announced Monday.
Arkansas State will open the 2014 season at home on Aug. 30 against Montana State of the FCS. The two teams met three times when both schools were at the FCS level, and Montana State won each game.
The following week (Sept. 6), ASU will travel to face the Tennessee Volunteers at Neyland Stadium in Knoxville. The Volunteers beat the Red Wolves 48-27 in their first and only meeting back in 2007.
Arkansas State will then head to face the Miami Hurricanes on Sept. 13. ASU fell to Miami 42-10 in their first and only meeting in 1997.
The Red Wolves’ final 2014 non-conference game is at home at Centennial Bank Stadium in Jonesboro against the Utah State Aggies (Sept. 27). Arkansas State trails the overall series 3-2, but won both games in Jonesboro.
“We’re excited our fan base will have the opportunity to watch our season opener right here in Jonesboro for the second straight year,” said Mohajir. “We also wanted to begin the Blake Anderson era at Centennial Bank Stadium and made that a priority for our fans. We appreciate Montana State agreeing to play us on short notice after Jackson State withdrew from their original commitment to be a part of our 2014 schedule.”
Arkansas State’s 2014 Sun Belt Conference football schedule is expected to be released on March 1.
