Temple to open 2013 football season at Notre Dame

The Temple Owls will open the 2013 football season at Notre Dame, the 2011 Temple football media guide reveals.

Temple will travel to face the Fighting Irish at Notre Dame Stadium in South Bend on August 31, 2013. The game appears to be part of the three-game series that was scheduled between the two schools in February.

The 2013 game will be the first ever meeting between the two schools. The Owls host Notre Dame at Lincoln Financial Field on Oct. 11, 2014 before the series returns to South Bend on Sept. 26, 2015.

With the Temple game now slotted for 2013, Notre Dame’s 2013 football schedule is nearly complete. The Irish have a full slate of 12 games scheduled and the only game without a tentative date is a road game at Air Force.

The 2013 schedule for Notre Dame could end up being one of the toughest ever. The Irish host BYU, Michigan State, Navy, Oklahoma, USC and Temple and travel to face Air Force, Michigan, Pittsburgh, Purdue and Stanford. There’s also a game against Arizona State at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington.

Temple also has a daunting 2013 football schedule, at least in the non-conference portion. The Owls open the season with back-to-back road trips at Notre Dame and Maryland. Temple also travels to face Connecticut and hosts Army.
