The Wake Forest Demon Deacons have added the Campbell Camels to their 2020 football schedule, the school announced on Wednesday.
Wake Forest will host Campbell at Truist Field in Winston-Salem, N.C., on Friday, October 9, 2020. The game will mark the first-ever meeting between the two schools on the gridiron.
“We look forward to welcoming Coach Mike Minter and the Fighting Camels to Truist Field,” Wake Forest Director of Athletics John Currie said. “I appreciate Campbell AD Omar Banks and our Deputy AD Lindsey Babcock for their partnership and coordination in working through this process.”
Campbell is a member of the Big South Conference in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS). With their conference competition postponed, the Camels with play a four-game non-conference schedule this fall and all four opponents are from the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS).
Prior to playing Wake Forest, Campbell will play at Georgia Southern on Sept. 12, at Coastal Carolina on Sept. 19, and at Appalachian State on Sept. 26.
Wake Forest is scheduled to open the 2020 season on Saturday, Sept. 12 at home against the Clemson Tigers. The Demon Deacons will play 10 ACC opponents and one non-conference opponent this season due to scheduling changes caused by the novel coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19).
