The Valparaiso Crusaders have announced their 2019 football schedule, which includes six home games and 12 contests overall.
Valparaiso opens the 2019 season on Thursday, Aug. 29 on the road in Richmond against the Eastern Kentucky Colonels. That contest will be followed by Valpo’s only open date of the season (Sept. 7).
On Sept. 14, the Crusaders host their first home contest at Brown Field in Valparaiso, Indiana, against the Central Connecticut State Blue Devils.
The following week on Sept. 21, Valparaiso travels to play the Truman State Bulldogs in a return contest from the 2018 season. Valpo returns home on Sept. 28 to host the University of Charleston Golden Eagles for Homecoming.
Valparaiso opens Pioneer Football League (PFL) action on the road on Oct. 5 against the Drake Bulldogs.
The remainder of Valpo’s 2019 football schedule is all PFL action that rotates in a home-and-away fashion — vs. Dayton (Oct. 12), at San Diego (Oct. 19), vs. Stetson (Oct. 26), at Davidson (Nov. 2), vs. Morehead State (Nov. 9), at Butler (Nov. 16), and vs. Marist (Nov. 23).
The 2019 season will be the first under new head coach Landon Fox. Former Valpo head coach stepped down in February to accept the same position at Bucknell University.
Last season, Valparaiso finished 2-9 overall and 2-6 in Pioneer Football League play. The Crusaders have won two PFL championships with their most recent in 2003.
