The UTEP Miners and the Arizona Wildcats have reportedly scheduled a home-and-home football series for the 2017 and 2018 seasons.
Bret Bloomquist of the El Paso Times revealed the Pac-12/C-USA match-up yesterday, but did not have specific dates or locations for the series.
Arizona and UTEP have met 51 times since 1916. The Wildcats lead the overall series 38-11-2 and have beaten the Miners 12 straight times dating back to 1971.
The contest would be the first announced non-conference game for both schools in 2017. UTEP is also slated to visit Colorado State in 2018, while Arizona has no set games.
Arizona opens the 2013 season on Aug. 31 at home against Northern Arizona. UTEP has a bye the first week of the 2013 season, and will then host New Mexico on Sept. 7.
Football Schedules
Just another example of why Arizona has never even appeared in a Rose Bowl. Trying playing up in your competition. Schedule 2 BCS opponents every year and then your players will have to play up to their level. I’m not a fan of Arizona but this is an outside eye looking at the program.
Have to agree,UTEP isn’t a team that causes anyone to buy tickets for…
UofA and UTEP has a history of being rivals, so why shouldn’t play one another? Another thing, UofA will get into the Rose Bowl! Go Catts!
I am glad Arizona is playing UTEP again. I miss the old WAC. Hopefully, there will be more games in the future.
