The USC Trojans have added the Rice Owls to their 2022 football schedule, the school announced on Tuesday.
USC will host Rice at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum on Sept. 3, 2022. The game will be the fourth meeting between the two schools, a series that USC leads 2-0-1.
The addition of Rice gives USC two games on their non-conference football schedule for the 2022 season. The Trojans are also set to host Notre Dame on Nov. 26.
USC only needs one more game to complete the non-conference portion of their 2022 schedule to go along with nine Pac-12 games.
The Trojans are the first announced non-conference opponent for Rice in 2022.
Football Schedules
The Tulane Green Wave needs the money and the exposure, too. Tulane also needs to renew its Rose Bowl rivalry with USC with a 4 game 2 & 2 series. Do it Dickson.
Love USC — how about adding Michigan, Baylor or TCU as a non-conference game?
As a college football fan, I understand why they did this, to compete with the weak OOC slates like every other conference.
As a Trojan, I am disgusted with this is and any other weak scheduling with bad Power 5 teams. USC’s rule is that we will play “anywhere, anytime.” In addition to ND and (Alabama, Texas and BYU). I want to see a third game against a average/weaker Power 5 or Upper Tier Group of 5 team. Definitely a team that can expand USC to certain states for recruiting such as Cincinnati, Houston, Tulane, UCF, USF… For a weaker Power 5 in fertile recruiting area, think NC State/Virginia/Syracuse, Miss St/Kentucky, Texas Tech, Rutgers/Maryland.
Common Sense-
SC played a neutral site game against Syracuse at Met Life stadium a few years ago & did a home & away with Virginia as well. I agree with a game against Cincy say at Bengals stadium or USF/UCF at Dolphins stadium would be cool. Try something different like that to schedule a game using a nearby NFL stadium like playing Mizzou at the Rams stadium.
That’s the point I was making. Our worst game needs to be some teams’ best game.
