The Troy Trojans have added games against the Tennessee Volunteers and the Arkansas-Pine Bluff Golden Lions to their 2020 football schedule, it was announced on Thursday.
Troy will travel to take on Tennessee at Neyland Stadium in Knoxville on Nov. 21, 2020. The Volunteers will pay the Trojans a $1.4 million guarantee for the game, per a copy of the document provided by the University of Tennessee.
In their first and only meeting on the gridiron back in 2012, Tennessee slipped by Troy 55-48 in Knoxville.
Troy will open the 2020 season at home at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Troy, Alabama, on Saturday, Sept. 5 against the Arkansas-Pine Bluff Golden Lions. The game will mark the first-ever meeting between the two programs in football.
The addition of games against Tennessee and Arkansas-Pine Bluff completes Troy’s non-conference football schedule for the 2020 season. The Trojans are also scheduled to play at UMass on Sept. 12 and host NC State on Sept. 19.
In Sun Belt Conference action in 2020, Troy will host Georgia State, Coastal Carolina, ULM, and Texas State and will travel to Georgia Southern, Appalachian State, South Alabama, and Arkansas State.
Tennessee has also completed their 2020 non-conference schedule. In addition to Troy, the Vols will host Charlotte (Sept. 5), play at Oklahoma (Sept. 12), and host Furman (Sept. 19).
In SEC play, Tennessee will host Alabama, Florida, Kentucky, and Missouri and will play at Arkansas, Georgia, South Carolina, and Vanderbilt.
