The Citadel Bulldogs have added the North Greenville Crusaders to their 2021 football schedule, according to a release by North Greenville University.
The Citadel will host North Greenville at Johnson Hagood Stadium in Charleston, S.C., on Saturday, Sept. 18, 2021. The game will mark the second meeting between the two schools on the gridiron.
This would explain why The Citadel’s home and home with SC State has been delayed. Citadel will play North Greenville instead https://t.co/WY1VT2iwmu

In their first meeting on Oct. 6, 2016, The Citadel defeated North Greenville 38-14 in Charleston.
North Greenville University, located in Tiger, S.C., is a member of the Gulf South Conference in Division II. Due to the novel coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, the Crusaders last played in 2019, recording a 3-7 record overall and 2-6 record in league action.
The addition of North Greenville tentatively completes The Citadel’s non-conference schedule for the 2021 season. The Bulldogs are scheduled to open the season at Coastal Carolina on Saturday, Sept. 4 and will also host Charleston Southern on Saturday, Sept. 11.
The Citadel was previously scheduled to play at South Carolina State on Sept. 25, but that game has been postponed to another season, per Jeff Hartsell of the Charleston Post and Courier.
