The Texas Tech Red Raiders have dropped the TCU Horned Frogs from their 2011 football schedule, ESPN has reported. Tech was slated to face TCU in Fort Worth on September 10.
Texas Tech reportedly dropped the game due to the new 9-game schedule in the Big 12. An extra conference game means a slightly tougher schedule.
ESPN reports that Texas Tech will instead schedule the Texas State Bobcats for their season opener on September 3. Following a bye week, the Red Raiders will travel to face New Mexico on September 17. That game was originally slated to be played in Lubbock.
The final non-conference game in 2011 for the Red Raiders is at home against Nevada on September 24.
Football Schedules:
wow..what a cowardly move….guess TT didn’t think they could at least COMPETE w/TCU. I’m sure every Texas based coach will use that as a recruitment tactic….why play for TT? They dodge real teams.
Or Texas Tech plays in a big boy conference and doesn’t care to beat a team that won’t advance them for a Bowl schedule.
What a bunch of panzies, Texas State, yeah Elizabeth that will surely advance them for a bowl. They would have gotten spanked by TCU so they backed out, Tubberville is a little girl. Scared about getting fired from that crap job he has wishing someone else would offer him another one so he could get out of that cowshit hell hole.
Tubberville backed out, only wants to win doesn’t care about competition..Leach would have played TCU..he scheduled them
Not so fast. TCU was the first to reschedule Tech to play on TV. Then Tech rescheduled twice to fit an early Texas TV game. The problem is not that Tech is not wanting to face TCU but the date which was originally scheduled. TCU did not wish to move to a new date or play Tech at the end of the season. So Tech was forced to reschedule as Tech wanted a bye week after the first game. Tech is starting 8 Freshman and was expecting to start a large amount of newbies. Tech needed the Bye week to get things in order to compete in one of the Toughest conferences.
The difference is simple. TCU could have played Tech on Sept 3 but refused. That is a fact. Tech is just being smart in how it is bring up its rookie class season.
That is NOT a fact. I am a red raider and Tech backed out…. NOT TCU…. Our new coach is a pansy and needs to be fired asap….
the only way for tech to be nationally ranked is to beat ranked teams, otherwise, tech is just a pretender.
TCU has been a pretender for years considering the Horned Frogs have only had to play crappy teams like UNLV. San Diego State, and Wyoming every season. Even Kansas would’ve won the MWC with that kinda “competition.”
Texas gee wah wah, Their has been a few years BYU playwed every dam week in the dam season, SHAME ON YOU 4 DROPING A GR8 GAME!
