The Syracuse Orange and the Purdue Boilermakers have scheduled a home-and-home football series for the 2022 and 2023 seasons, the schools announced on Wednesday.
In the first game of the series, Syracuse will host Purdue at the Carrier Dome on Sept. 17, 2022. The Orange will then return the game at Ross-Ade Stadium in West Lafayette, Indiana on Sept. 16, 2023.
“We are pleased to add Purdue to our schedule,” Syracuse Director of Athletics John Wildhack said. “Adding a quality Big Ten opponent will be a great challenge for our team and attractive to our fans. Like us, Purdue plays an exciting brand of football.”
In their first and only meeting on the gridiron back in 2004, Purdue defeated Syracuse 51-0 in West Lafayette.
Purdue is the third non-conference opponent for Syracuse for 2022 and second for 2023. The Orange are slated to host Ohio (Sept. 10) and Notre Dame (date TBA) in 2022 and Army in 2023 (Sept. 23).
The Boilermakers also have one other non-conference game scheduled for both the 2022 and 2023 seasons. Purdue is scheduled to host Indiana State in 2022 (Sept. 10) and travel to Virginia Tech in 2023 (Sept. 9).
