The Syracuse Orange have added the Colgate Raiders to their 2020 football schedule, according to a report by WSYR-TV.
Syracuse will host Colgate at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse, New York, on Sept. 18, 2020, Dome Managing Director and Syracuse University Vice President and Chief Facilities Officer Pete Sala told the TV station (Sept. 18, 2020 is a Friday; Colgate informed us that the game is currently scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 19).
The 2020 contest will be the first in the Carrier Dome with a new roof, a project which is now underway. Although details are scarce, Phase Two of the renovation is targeted for completion in the Fall of 2022.
Colgate, a member of the Patriot League in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS), has met Syracuse 67 times on the gridiron. In their most recent contest in 2016, Syracuse defeated Colgate 33-7 to even the overall series at 31-31-5.
Syracuse now has three non-conference games scheduled for the 2020 season. The Orange are scheduled to play at Rutgers on Sept. 12 and host Liberty on Oct. 17.
Colgate, which plays a six-game conference schedule in the Patriot League, now has three non-conference games scheduled in 2020. The Raiders are slated to open the season at home against Cal Poly on Sept. 5 and later host New Hampshire on a date to be announced (was previously scheduled for Sept. 19).
Syracuse is scheduled to open the 2019 season on Saturday, Aug. 31 at Liberty. Colgate opens the season in Week Zero on Saturday, Aug. 24 at home against Villanova.
