The Southeast Missouri Redhawks and the Sam Houston State Bearkats have scheduled a home-and-home football series for 2021 and 2025, FBSchedules.com has learned.
A copy of the game contract was obtained from Southeast Missouri State University via a state public records request.
In the first game of the series, Southeast Missouri will travel to take on Sam Houston State at Bowers Stadium in Huntsville, Texas, on Sept. 11, 2021. Four seasons later on Sept. 13, 2025, the Redhawks will host the Bearkats at Houck Stadium in Cape Girardeau, Mo., which will conclude the series.
Southeast Missouri and Sam Houston State have only met twice on the gridiron. The Bearkats won both contests in the series, 40-7 in 1993 in Cape Girardeau and 24-4 in 1994 in Huntsville.
With the addition of Sam Houston State, Southeast Missouri has completed their non-conference schedule for the 2021 season. The Redhawks are slated to open the season on Thursday, Sept. 2 at home against Southern Illinois and later travel to face Missouri on Sept. 18.
The Bearkats are the second scheduled opponent for Southeast Missouri in 2025. The Redhawks are scheduled to play at North Alabama on Sept. 6.
Sam Houston State has also completed their non-conference schedule in 2021 with the addition of Southeast Missouri. The Bearkats are slated to open the season at Northern Arizona on Sept. 4 and host Dixie State on Nov. 6.
Southeast Missouri is the first known non-conference opponent for Sam Houston State in 2025.
