The South Carolina Gamecocks have added the Charleston Southern Buccaneers to their 2019 football schedule, FBSchedules.com has learned.
South Carolina will host Charleston Southern at Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia on Nov. 23, 2019. The Bucs will receive a $375,000 guarantee for the game, according to a copy of the contract obtained from the University of South Carolina via an FOIA request.
Charleston Southern is a member of the Big South Conference in the Football Championship Subdivision. Last season, CSU (7-4, 4-1) advanced to the FCS Playoffs but lost at Wofford 15-14 in the first round.
The addition of Charleston Southern tentatively completes the non-conference portion of the Gamecocks’ schedule in 2019. South Carolina is scheduled to open the season vs. UNC at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, play at East Carolina (date TBA), and host Clemson (Nov. 30).
Conference opponents for South Carolina in 2019 include Florida, Kentucky, Vanderbilt, and Alabama at home and Georgia, Missouri, Tennessee, and Texas A&M on the road.
Earlier on Thursday, we reported that South Carolina has added future home games vs. Coastal Carolina (2018 and 2020) and one vs. Chattanooga (2018).
I think you know what my thoughts are on this.
