The SEC has announced a new bowl lineup beginning in 2020. The lineup will be effective following the conclusion of the 2020 regular-season and extends through 2025.
The SEC has added the new Las Vegas Bowl as a partner and will send a team there in 2020, 2022, and 2024 to face an opponent from the Pac-12.
Also added to the SEC’s lineup is the Bad Boy Mowers Gasparilla Bowl in Tampa, Florida. The SEC will no longer send a team to the Independence Bowl, and the Belk Bowl will only get an SEC opponent in 2021, 2023, and 2025.
Below is the complete SEC bowl lineup and selection process for the 2020 through 2025 seasons:
Citrus Bowl – vs. Big Ten
The Citrus Bowl gets the first selection from the SEC following the College Football Playoff selection process.
After the Citrus Bowl has selected a team, the SEC will consult with the schools and bowls to “…make assignments for bowl games in the SEC Pool of Six from all eligible SEC teams.”
SEC Pool of Six Bowls
- Academy Sports + Outdoors Texas Bowl – vs. Big 12
- AutoZone Liberty Bowl – vs. Big 12
- Belk Bowl – vs. ACC (2021, 2023, 2025)
- Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl – vs. Big Ten
- Las Vegas Bowl – vs. Pac-12 (2020, 2022, 2024)
- TaxSlayer Gator Bowl – vs. ACC

After the Pool of Six selection process is complete, the two remaining bowls, Birmingham Bowl and Bad Boy Mowers Gasparilla Bowl, will collaborate on the selection of remaining eligible teams each year.
The SEC will continue to send members to the Allstate Sugar Bowl in years when it is not a College Football Playoff Semifinal host and the Capital One Orange Bowl in selected years.
“We are pleased to have an SEC bowl lineup that provides exciting destinations for our student-athletes and traveling fans,” said SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey. “We enjoy great relationships with some of the best bowl games in college football and this lineup will continue to provide a wide array of rewarding bowl game experiences for our student-athletes and fans in celebration of a successful season.”
