The Oregon Ducks have added the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles to their 2012 football schedule, TTU announced this week.
Oregon will host Tennessee Tech at Autzen Stadium in Eugene on September 15, 2012. The game will be the first ever meeting between the two schools.
The Golden Eagles are a member of the Ohio Valley Conference in the Football Championship Subdivision. Their last outright conference championship was in 1972.
Oregon was previously scheduled to host Montana State on Sept. 15, 2012, but that game has been canceled.
The Ducks open the 2012 season at home on Sept. 1 against Arkansas State followed by Fresno State on Sept. 8. Their Pac-12 slate features home games against Arizona, Colorado, Stanford and Washington and road games against Arizona State, California, Oregon State, USC and Washington State.
Where are all the negative comments? Everytime the news breaks that a SEC team arranges match-ups like Tennessee Tech and Arkansas State everyone is extremely quick to throw stones. However, if a team like Oregon schedules these teams no one really pitches a fit. Double standard much?
LSU, at Tennessee, and Boise St. (twice) in the last four years. Those are some tough non-conference games.
Maybe it’s because people know Georgia was supposed to be playing the Ducks in a home-home series (this year and next), but they dropped the game saying they didn’t want to fly all the way to the west coast for the road game. So Oregon filled that spot with what they could get at this late date (Missouri State this year, and Tennessee Tech next).
I’m actually surprised that Oregon even got a game with TTU….I would have thought the SEC would have already scheduled TTU 2 or 3 times already.
The ducks got who they could Tennesee backed out of going up to oregon after they got their butts kicked last year. Georgia chickened out too! Georgia lost to Colorado last year so the SEC is scared to play out west.
They just took a page out of the LSU play book. Play cupcake non conference games and be ready for conference games.
Sorry fellas, but you’ve got it wrong. Oregon was originally scheduled to play Kansas State in a home-and-home series in 2011/2012. K-State bowed out.
The Georgia series was set to begin in 2015, but was cancelled, and each school claims it was the other’s idea.
As far as I know, Tennessee will play at Autzen in 2014.
In any case, 2012 is the worst OOC schedule I’ve ever seen from Oregon. It’s just horrid.
Well, I will be there and can’t wait to see the state of Oregon, Autzen and what Pac-12 football has to offer! SO far, “we’ve” been treated tremendously at Iowa/K-State/Arkansas/Auburn/TCU/ Louisville and been treated terribly (for me) at Georgia (bastards).
I don’t blame Ducks fans for hating the schedule, we hate scehduling non D-I opponents, also. I like Oregon – would like them more if they could kick some SEC team butt!
