The Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the Stanford Cardinal have extended their football series through the 2019 season, Stanford announced today.
Following their game on November 26, 2011, Notre Dame and Stanford will play each year through 2019. The series will alternate home-and-home for eight consecutive seasons.
Notre Dame leads the overall series with Stanford 17-8. The Cardinal have won the last two games in the series – 45-38 at Stanford in 2009 and 37-14 at South Bend in 2010. Prior to that, the Irish had won seven consecutive games.
“We are very excited to be extending our football series with the University of Notre Dame,” said Director of Athletics Bob Bowlsby. “We have enjoyed a long history of great competition and we are pleased to continue the spirited rivalry between our two universities.”
