The North Texas Mean Green and the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs have scheduled a home-and-home football series for the 2023 and 2028 seasons, it was announced Tuesday.
The current Conference USA foes will be extending pleasantries following North Texas’s departure for the American, which takes place following the upcoming season.
In the first game of the series, North Texas will travel to do battle with Louisiana Tech at Joe Aillet Stadium in Ruston, La., on Saturday, Sept. 16, 2023. The Bulldogs will travel to square off with the Mean Green at Apogee Stadium in Denton, Texas, on Saturday, Sept. 9, 2028, which will conclude the series.
The schools have faced each other 15 times — all of which have come as conference battles. The first four came with the institutions as part of the Southland Conference between 1976 and 1979. The Mean Green took all four of those tilts, but have won just two of the ensuing 11. The Bulldogs have claimed the last four and seven of eight between the sides.
FBSchedules.com has also learned that the scheduled 2025 battle with the Wisconsin Badgers (Saturday, Sept. 6) and the 2027 outing at the Houston Cougars (Saturday, Sept. 4) have been called off.
