The North Carolina Central Eagles and the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles have scheduled a home-and-home football series for 2020 and 2022, FBSchedules.com has learned.
A copy of the athletic agreement was obtained from North Carolina Central University via a state public records request.
In the first game of the series, North Carolina Central will travel to take on Tennessee Tech at Tucker Stadium in Cookeville, Tenn., on September 19, 2020. NC Central will host Tennessee Tech two seasons later on September 17, 2022, at O’Kelly-Riddick Stadium in Durham, N.C., which will conclude the series.
The 2020 North Carolina Central-Tennessee Tech contest will mark the first-ever meeting between the two schools on the gridiron. NC Central competes in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference, while Tennessee Tech plays in the Ohio Valley Conference.
With the addition of Tennessee Tech, North Carolina Central has tentatively completed their non-conference schedule for the 2020 season. North Carolina Central is also scheduled to play at Ohio on Sept. 5 and host Winston-Salem State on Sept. 12.
Tennessee Tech has also completed their non-conference schedule for 2020. The Golden Eagles are also slated to play consecutive road contests at Samford on Sept. 5 and at Minnesota on Sept. 12.
The 2022 matchup between North Carolina Central and Tennessee Tech is the first known non-conference contest for both teams that season.
