The New Mexico Lobos have added the Pittsburgh Panthers to their 2013 football schedule, UNM has announced.
New Mexico will travel to face Pittsburgh at Heinz Field on Sept. 14, 2013. The game will be the first ever meeting between the two schools.
“Playing the University of Pittsburgh at Heinz Field in September will be a great experience for our team,” UNM head coach Bob Davie said. “All of us respect the tradition of Pitt football and realize the challenge ahead of us.”
New Mexico’s 2013 non-conference schedule is now complete. The Lobos open the season at home vs. UTSA (Aug. 31) before traveling to UTEP (Sept. 7) and Pittsburgh (Sept. 14). UNM closes out the non-conference portion of their schedule at home against in-state rival New Mexico State (Oct. 5).
In MWC play, New Mexico hosts Air Force, Colorado State, Hawaii, and UNLV and travels to Fresno State, San Jose State, Utah State, and Wyoming.
Pitt has also completed their 2013 non-conference schedule. The Panthers host Villanova (Aug. 31), New Mexico (Sept. 14), travel to Navy (Oct. 26), and host Notre Dame (Nov. 9).
The Panthers officially join the ACC on July 1, 2013. They will face Duke, Georgia Tech, Miami, North Carolina, Syracuse, Virginia, Virginia Tech, and a TBA Atlantic Division team.
