The NC State Wolfpack will play at the Troy Trojans in 2028, according to NC State’s 2021 football media guide.
NC State will travel to play Troy at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Troy, Ala., on a date to be determined during the 2028 season.
NC State was previously scheduled to travel to take on Troy on Saturday, Sept. 19, 2020, but the game was canceled due to the novel coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. The newly added game in 2028 is likely the rescheduled contest from the 2020 season.
With the addition of Troy, NC State has tentatively completed their non-conference football schedule for the 2028 season. The Wolfpack are scheduled to open the season at East Carolina on Sept. 2 and will later host Vanderbilt on Sept. 16 and Campbell on Sept. 23.
Troy has also tentatively completed their 2028 slate with the addition of the contest with the Wolfpack. The Trojans are set play road contests at Clemson on Sept. 2 and at UAB on Sept. 23 and will host Southern Miss on Sept. 16.
NC State is scheduled to open the 2021 season on Thursday, Sept. 2 at home against the USF Bulls. Troy opens their season two days later on Saturday, Sept. 4 at home against the Southern Jaguars.
Football Schedules
It’s crazy that this game is happening 11 years later than it originally was supposed to. It was supposed to be played in 2017 originally but got pushed back to 2020 because NC State got a neutral site game with South Carolina in Charlotte.
