The Navy Midshipmen have announced their 2011 football schedule, which features games against Air Force, Army, Notre Dame, Rutgers and South Carolina.
Navy will open the 2011 season in Annapolis on September 3 against Delaware. The Blue Hens are facing Eastern Washington tonight in the FCS National Championship Game.
The Midshipmen hit the road for two weeks at Western Kentucky on September 10 and at South Carolina on September 17. South Carolina, who played in the 2010 SEC Championship Game, leads the series against Navy 4-3.
After a bye week, Navy hosts rival Air Force on October 1. The Falcons beat the Midshipmen 14-6 last season and lead the overall series 26-17.
Navy then hosts Southern Miss (10/08), travels to face Rutgers (10/15), hosts East Carolina (10/22) and travels to Notre Dame (10/29). The series between Navy and Rutgers is tied 11-11-1 while Notre Dame enjoys a huge lead 71-12-1.
After a visit from Troy on November 5, the Mids travel to face both SMU (11/12) and San Jose State (11/19) before two consecutive bye weeks.
The Midshipmen close out the 2011 regular season with the annual Army-Navy game on December 10 at FedEx Field in Landover, Maryland.
