The Navy Midshipmen have added Texas State and VMI to their 2014 football schedule, their 2012 media guide indicates.
Navy will travel to face Texas State at Bobcat Stadium in San Marcos on Sept. 13, 2014. This will be the second game of a home-and-home series that begins this season in Annapolis. The series was originally slated to conclude on Sept. 19, 2015, but the game was moved up one year due to Navy joining the Big East in 2015.
The VMI Keydets will visit Navy-Marine Corps. Memorial Stadium in Annapolis on Oct. 11, 2014. Navy is 8-0 all-time against VMI with their last win coming in 2003.
Navy was previously scheduled to play at UNLV on Oct. 11, but the Middies canceled a four-game home-and-home series against the Rebels back in April.
With the 2014 schedule now full at 12 games, it seems definite that Navy will not attempt to join the Big East early as the Las Vegas Review-Journal suggested a few months ago.
Since the Midshipmen will play a Big East Conference schedule beginning in 2015, they have been in the midst of purging their future football schedules. So far, they have canceled four games against UNLV, two of four games against South Alabama, and a single game at Rice.
