The Missouri Tigers will open the 2012 season at home against the Southeastern Louisiana Lions, Missouri athletic director Mike Alden announced today.
Missouri will host Southeastern Louisiana at Faurot Field in Columbia on Sept. 1, 2012. The game will be Missouri’s first as an SEC school and first ever against the Lions.
The Tigers are also slated to host the Arizona State Sun Devils on Sept. 15 and travel to UCF on Sept. 29. Their 2012 SEC football schedule was announced last month.
Southeastern Louisiana, a member of the Southland Conference in the FCS, was previously scheduled to play at Georgia Tech on Sept. 1, 2012. The AJC reports that the game has been canceled by Tech due to the Yellow Jackets playing at Virginia Tech on Labor Day.
Missouri still needs one more non-conference game to complete their 2012 football schedule. Mizzou AD Mike Alden prefers for that game to be scheduled on Nov. 17 because it falls between three SEC road games. The Tigers travel to Florida (Nov. 3), Tennessee (Nov. 10) and Texas A&M (Nov. 24).
