The Minnesota Golden Gophers and the North Carolina Tar Heels have scheduled a home-and-home football series for 2023 and 2024, both schools announced on Wednesday.
In the first game of the series, Minnesota will travel to face North Carolina at Kenan Memorial Stadium in Chapel Hill on Sept. 16, 2023. The Golden Gophers will then host the Tar Heels at TCF Bank Stadium in Minneapolis on Aug. 29 or Aug. 31, 2024.
Minnesota and North Carolina have never met on the gridiron.
North Carolina is the second scheduled non-conference for Minnesota in 2023 and first in 2024. The Golden Gophers are also scheduled to host Eastern Michigan on Sept. 9, 2023.
The Tar Heels have two additional non-conference games scheduled in 2023 and three in 2024. In 2023, UNC is also slated to open the season vs. South Carolina in Charlotte and then host Appalachian State on Sept. 9.
In 2024, North Carolina is scheduled to host Charlotte (Sept. 7), UCF (Sept. 21), and Liberty (Oct. 19).
Football Schedules
Way to go Minnesota, I talked bad about your lack of scheduling Power 5 teams out of conference and I will give you some praise to scheduling North Carolina. Do not rest on this, make another deal like it!
This is more like it. As a season ticket holder of Golden Gopher Football (and Bruin (UCLA) Football) I want to publicly thank you, THANK YOU!!!!!
This is a solid series between two evenly matched teams…..if P.J. is still coach,I expect Minnesota to be a Top 25 team when they meet the Tar Heels….
Will Mack Brown do the coin flip?
