The Liberty Flames have added the UMass Minutemen to their 2020 football schedule, the school announced on Wednesday.
Liberty will host UMass at Williams Stadium in Lynchburg, Va., on Friday, Nov. 27, 2020. The game will be broadcast via ESPN3 at 12:00pm ET.
Liberty and UMass were previously scheduled to play on Saturday, Nov. 28 before the novel coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic hit. UMass postponed their 2020 season, but has since returned to the gridiron and are actively scheduling games this season.
“We are excited to confirm the game with UMass on Friday of Thanksgiving weekend,” said Director of Athletics Ian McCaw. “With the uncertainty of 2020 and the team’s success this season, we want to provide our student-athletes with as many opportunities to compete as possible.”
Liberty is 5-0 so far this season following victories at home against FIU (36-34), North Alabama (28-7), and ULM (40-7) and on the road against Western Kentucky (30-24) and Syracuse (38-21). The Flames are next scheduled to host Southern Miss on Saturday, Oct. 24 in Lynchburg (1:00pm ET, ESPN3).
UMass opened their abbreviated campaign on Saturday with a 41-0 road loss at Georgia Southern. The Minutemen’s next scheduled game is on the road against the 22nd-ranked Marshall Thundering Herd on Saturday, Nov. 7.
