The Iowa State Cyclones have added the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns to their 2020 football schedule, the school announced on Wednesday.
Iowa State will host Louisiana at Jack Trice Stadium in Ames, Iowa on Sept. 12, 2020. The game will mark the first-ever meeting between the two schools on the gridiron.
Louisiana, a member of the Sun Belt Conference, will serve as Iowa State’s season-opening contest and their only non-conference opponent for the 2020 season. Iowa State will be off on Sept. 5 and then again on Sept. 19 following the game against the Ragin’ Cajuns.
The Cyclones are set to open Big 12 Conference action on Sept. 26 on the road against the TCU Horned Frogs. The Big 12 announced their revised 2020 football schedule today, which includes nine conference games and one non-conference opponent for each team.
Iowa State was originally scheduled to host South Dakota and UNLV and travel to Iowa in non-conference action this season. The Cyclones will continue to play Iowa annually, but the status of the South Dakota contest is unknown. The Cyclones’ game against UNLV has been postponed to the 2030 season.
Louisiana now has a schedule of 11 games. The Iowa State contest replaces their game against Wyoming, while the Cajuns’ canceled game at Missouri remains unfilled.
The Ragin’ Cajuns are scheduled to open the 2020 season at home against the McNeese Cowboys on Saturday, Sept. 5 and later play at the New Mexico State Aggies in non-conference play.
However, due to the ongoing novel coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, all games and schedules for the 2020 season are subject to change.
