The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets have added the Gardner-Webb Runnin’ Bulldogs to their 2020 football schedule, FBSchedules.com has learned.
Georgia Tech will host Gardner-Webb at Bobby Dodd Stadium in Atlanta on Sept. 12, 2020. The Runnin’ Bulldogs will receive a $375,000 guarantee for the game, per a copy of the contract obtained from Georgia Tech via state open records request.
In their first and only meeting on the gridiron back in 2008, Georgia Tech slipped by Gardner-Webb 10-7 in Atlanta.
Gardner-Webb, located in Boiling Springs, North Carolina, is a member of the Big South Conference in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS). GWU kicked off their 2018 season with a 52-17 win over Limestone.
The addition of Gardner-Webb tentatively completes Georgia Tech’s non-conference schedule for the 2020 season. The Yellow Jackets also have contests scheduled at home against UCF (Sept. 19) and Notre Dame (Nov. 14) and a trip to face in-state rival Georgia (Nov. 28).
In ACC action in 2020, Georgia Tech is slated to host Clemson, Duke, Miami (FL), and Virginia and travel to North Carolina, Pitt, Syracuse, and Virginia Tech.
Georgia Tech is the first known non-conference opponent for Gardner-Webb in 2020.
