The Georgia State Panthers have added the Murray State Racers to their 2020 football schedule, the school announced on Tuesday.
Georgia State will host Murray State at Georgia State Stadium in Atlanta on Saturday, Sept. 5, 2020. The contract includes the stipulation that the game could be moved to Thursday, Sept. 5.
Murray State competes in the Ohio Valley Conference in the Football Championship Subdivision. The Racers finished the 2017 season 3-8 overall and 2-5 in conference play.
Murray State was previously scheduled to open the 2020 season at Louisville. That game will likely be moved to another date that season.
The Georgia State Panthers now have three non-conference games scheduled for the 2020 season. The week after hosting Murray State, the Panthers travel to take on Alabama on Sept. 12 and later visit Charlotte on Sept. 26.
Georgia State opens the 2018 season on Thursday, Aug. 30 against the Kennesaw State Owls at Georgia State Stadium.
Update (5/2/2018)
Per a copy of the contract obtained from Murray State University, the Racers will receive $325,000 guarantee for playing Georgia State.
Also, Murray State’s previously scheduled game against Louisville has been pushed back two weeks from Sept. 5 to Sept. 19, 2020.
