Georgia adds Florida Atlantic to 2012 football schedule

By Kevin Kelley -

The Georgia Bulldogs have added the Florida Atlantic Owls to their 2012 football schedule, the Athens Banner Herald has reported. The game will be played in Athens on September 15, 2012.

This will be the first ever meeting between UGA and FAU, a member of the Sun Belt Conference. The Owls are currently coached by Howard Schnellenberger. Georgia head coach Mark Richt played for Schnellenberger at Miami (FL) from 1979 to 1982.

Georgia’s 2012 football schedule is now complete. The Dawgs’ non-conference schedule includes Buffalo, Florida Atlantic, Georgia Southern and Georgia Tech.

FAU, who is now scheduled to travel to Georgia and Navy, needs two more non-conference games to fill out their 2012 schedule.

UGa should be ashamed of itself for such a crappy schedule….what happened to scheduling games against Colorado,Arizona State and Oklahoma State? Guess Richt lost his cojones….

Unfortunately, the BCS rewards teams for going undefeated more than teams that play tough schedules.

With McGarity coming from Florida, he is going to follow what they did to win two MNC’s (2006 & 2008). In 2006, Florida played Southern Miss, UCF, Western Carolina and Florida State. In 2008, Florida played Hawaii, Miami (FL), The Citadel and Florida State.

The 2006 schedule is what Florida usually follows, 2 lower-tier BCS teams, 1 FCS team and then FSU. This is what McGarity wants for Georgia. It’s an easy schedule, but it gets you into the MNC game. Losing at Oklahoma State and Colorado doesn’t. That’s just the way the BCS is.

Thanks, I run that site also. The schedules there are predictions based on prior scheduling patterns. I do that as a Georgia fan for Georgia fans.

On FBSchedules.com, I only post confirmed games.
