Fresno State Athletic Director Thomas Boeh announced on Monday that the Bulldogs have added the California Golden Bears and the San Diego State Aztecs to their 2011 football schedule.
The Bulldogs will open the 2011 season against California at Candlestick Park in San Francisco on September 3. The game will be considered a neutral site game.
Cal will be playing all of their 2011 home games at AT&T Park in San Francisco due to Memorial Stadium renovations.
Fresno State leads the all time series with California 2-0, with the last meeting taking place on September 23, 2000 at Bulldog Stadium. Fresno State won that game 17-3.
The meeting between future Mountain West member Fresno State (who will join in 2012) and current Mountain West member San Diego State will take place at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego on December 3, 2011. The Aztecs lead the all time series between the two schools 26-20-4. The last meeting between the two schools was in 2002.
With the addition of Cal and San Diego State, the Bulldogs 2011 schedule is now complete. Fresno State’s non-conference schedule will consist of the following: at California (9/3), at Nebraska (9/10), North Dakota (9/17), Ole Miss (10/1), Boise State (10/8) and at San Diego State (12/3).
Actually, my understanding is the Fresno St.-Cal game will be a “neutral site” game played at Candlestick Park in SF. I believe it will NOT be part of the Cal home season ticket package.
You are correct, we have edited the article to reflect that.
Still think the Pac-10 should have added Fresno State instead of Colorado….the Cal-Fresno State game will be a highlight of the 2011 West Coast football schedule….as well the rematch w/Ole Miss.
