The Fresno State Bulldogs have added the Southern University Jaguars to their 2025 football schedule, the school announced Tuesday.
The contest, set to be played in Fresno’s Bulldog Stadium on September 13, 2025, will mark the first time Fresno State will be pitted against an HBCU (Historically Black College and University) opponent.
“Southern University has a rich history of excellence, not only on the football field, but in their full contribution to the academic community,” stated Fresno State Director of Athletics Terry Tumey in the release. “There are unique synergies between our two institutions in what we do for the communities we serve. We are honored to welcome the Jaguars and their world famous Human Jukebox to Fresno in 2025 and we truly think our Valley will enjoy the special experience.”
The tilt with the Jaguars of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, closes out Fresno’s 2025 slate. It will accompany contests at Kansas (Aug. 23), vs. Georgia Southern (Aug. 30), and at Oregon State (Sept. 6).
Southern, who plays in the SWAC West (FCS) has inked two additional games with FBS opponents. The Jaguars travel to Troy on Saturday, Sept. 4, to kick off the 2021 season, and will visit LSU on Saturday, Sept. 10, 2022.
Football Schedules
Congratulations to Fresno State for landing this game….Bulldog fans are in for a real treat because the real prize is getting the Southern band to play as well….HBCU schools have the best bands and they often are the reason people attend the games. I got this circled…….Fitz Hill had Morgan State play San Jose St. a few years back and the Bears brought their band to play……it also was the last time the Spartans have sold out a home game.
