Saturday’s Florida State Seminoles at Wake Forest Demon Deacons football game has been canceled due to COVID-19 concerns within the Seminoles’ program, it was announced Friday.
“We are obviously very disappointed that we will not be able to compete this weekend and honor our outstanding senior class,” said Wake Forest Head Coach Dave Clawson. “This has been a difficult month for our program, but I am proud of how our student-athletes have persevered through all the adversity that they have faced.”
“Florida State AD David Coburn called me just a short time ago to let me know that the Seminoles will not be able to make the trip to Winston-Salem for Saturday’s game after today’s test results have further depleted their roster,” added Wake Forest Director of Athletics John Currie.
The Orlando Sun-Sentinel reported Friday that FSU was notified of a positive test, and that the majority of its offensive line group would be unavailable due to contact tracing and quarantining. This is the fourth game the Seminoles have had affected due to the coronavirus.
Wake Forest finishes its regular season with a 4-4 record (3-4 ACC). Florida State closes its campaign at 3-6 (2-6 ACC), and has removed itself from bowl consideration.
