The Eastern Kentucky Colonels will play at the Youngstown State Penguins in 2020, FBSchedules.com has learned.
Eastern Kentucky will travel to take on Youngstown State at Stambaugh Stadium in Youngstown, Ohio, on Sept. 19, 2020. EKU will receive a $75,000 guarantee for the game, per a copy of the contract obtained from Eastern Kentucky University via a state open records request.
Eastern Kentucky and Youngstown State first met on the gridiron in 1953 and have played a total of 20 contests. The two schools last met in the 1994 Division I-AA playoffs, with Youngstown State coming out on top 18-15. Although they have lost four consecutive games, EKU still leads the overall series 12-8.
The Colonels have tentatively completed their 2020 non-conference football schedule with the addition of Youngstown State. EKU is scheduled to host the Western Carolina Catamounts on Sept. 5 and travel to play the West Virginia Mountaineers on Sept. 12 that season.
Youngstown State has also tentatively completed their 2020 non-conference slate. The Penguins are scheduled to open the season at the Akron Zips on Sept. 5 and the host the Duquesne Dukes the following week on Sept. 12.
Eastern Kentucky is scheduled to open the 2019 season on Thursday, Aug. 29 at home against the Valparaiso Crusaders. Youngstown State opens the season on Saturday, Aug. 24 (Week Zero) against the Samford Bulldogs in the Guardian Credit Union FCS Kickoff in Montgomery, Alabama.
