The Davidson Wildcats will host the Shaw Bears in 2021, according to Shaw’s fall 2021 football schedule release.
Davidson will host Shaw at Richardson Stadium in Davidson, N.C., on Saturday, Sept. 11, 2021. The game will mark the first-ever meeting between the two schools on the gridiron.
Davidson is a member of the Pioneer Football League (PFL) in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS). Shaw University, located in Raleigh, N.C., competes in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) in Division II.
Shaw is the second known non-conference opponent for Davidson this fall. The Wildcats are also scheduled to play at the VMI Keydets in the season-opener for both schools on Saturday, Sept. 4.
Davidson has not yet released their complete fall 2021 football schedule, although a couple of other Pioneer Football League teams have already done so. The Wildcats do know that they will travel to take on the Dayton Flyers on Saturday, Nov. 13, per their schedule release last month.
The Davidson Wildcats finished the spring 2021 football season 4-3 overall and 4-1 in PFL action, which earned them the league’s automatic bid to the FCS Playoffs for the first time in 52 years. Davidson fell in the first round at the Jacksonville State Gamecocks, 49-14.
