The Charlotte 49ers will host the South Carolina State Bulldogs in 2023 and the Gardner-Webb Runnin’ Bulldogs in 2024, according to contracts obtained by FBSchedules.com.
Charlotte will host South Carolina State at Jerry Richardson Stadium in Charlotte, N.C., on Saturday, Sept. 2, 2023. The 49ers will pay the Bulldogs a $312,500 guarantee for playing the game, according to the copy of the contract.
The 2023 contest between Charlotte and South Carolina State will mark the first-ever meeting between the two schools on the gridiron.
The addition of South Carolina State completes Charlotte’s non-conference football schedule for the 2023 season. The 49ers are also scheduled to play at Maryland on Sept. 9, host Georgia State on Sept. 16, and travel to face Florida on Sept. 23 that season.
The Gardner-Webb Runnin’ Bulldogs will travel to take on Charlotte at Jerry Richardson Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 14, 2024. Gardner-Webb will receive a $270,000 guarantee for the game, per the contract copy.
Charlotte and Gardner-Webb first met on the gridiron in 2013 and have played a total of three contests. In their most recent contest in 2019, the 49ers defeated the Runnin’ Bulldogs 49-28 and now lead the overall series 2-1.
Charlotte is also scheduled to play Gardner-Webb this season. The game is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 11, 2021 in Charlotte.
