Central Michigan has added games against Kansas and UNLV to their future football schedules, the school announced on Friday.
CMU will begin a two-for-one series with the Kansas Jayhawks at Memorial Stadium in Lawrence on Sept. 20, 2014. The Chippewas play at Kansas again on Sept. 9, 2017 before hosting the Jayhawks at Kelly/Shorts Stadium on Sept. 8, 2018.
In their first meeting in 2007, the Chippewas fell to the Jayhawks 52-7 in Lawrence. The game was also the first and only match-up for CMU against a team from the Big 12.
Central Michigan has also added a home-and-home series against the UNLV Rebels of the Mountain West Conference. The Chippewas will travel to Las Vegas in 2013 and will host the Rebels in Mount Pleasant in 2016.
Kansas won’t be the first Big 12 team to play at Central Michigan. That designation will belong to Oklahoma State, who will travel to Mount Pleasant in 2015. That game will be the first of a two-for-one series, which has CMU visiting Boone Pickens Stadium in Stillwater in 2016 and 2018.
The series against Oklahoma State was first reported back in June of 2011. At that time, it was unknown which two years Central Michigan would play in Stillwater.
Central Michigan Future Opponents (Tentative)
- 2013 – at Michigan, at NC State, at UNLV
- 2014 – NC State, at Purdue, at Kansas, at Clemson
- 2015 – at Michigan State, Oklahoma State
- 2016 – at Iowa, at Oklahoma State, UNLV
- 2017 – at Kansas, at Michigan State
- 2018 – Kansas, at Michigan State, at Oklahoma State
Strong OOC scheduling!
Agreed….CMU is starting to draw some very good teams to Mt. Pleasant but feel Dan Enos is not the right man for HC there….
Darn. These are the two schools I was hoping BYU would have on the 2013 and 2014 schedules. UNLV, because Sam Boyd Stadium becomes Lavell Edwards Stadium South whenever BYU plays UNLV. Kansas, because it would have been fun to match-up AGAINST Jake Heaps!
BYU maybe playing central mich in 2013
