The BYU Cougars have officially announced their 2018 football schedule. BYU opens the 2018 season in Tucson against the Arizona Wildcats on Saturday, Sept. 1.
The Cougars’ first home game at LaVell Edwards Stadium is scheduled for Sept. 8 against the California Golden Bears. Other home games for BYU in 2018 include McNeese State (Sept. 22), Utah State (Friday, Oct. 5), Hawaii (Oct. 13), NIU (Oct. 27), and New Mexico State (Nov. 17).
After the season opener against Arizona, BYU later hits the road to take on Wisconsin (Sept. 15), Washington (Sept. 29), Boise State (Nov. 3), UMass (Nov. 10; at Gillette Stadium), and Utah (Nov. 24).
BYU’s 2018 opponents include three that are ranked in ESPN’s Way-Too-Early Top 25: No. 6 Wisconsin, No. 7 Washington, and No. 17 Boise State.
Additionally, eight of BYU’s opponents for next season played in a bowl game in 2017.
Kickoff times and television coverage will be announced at a later date, and some dates could be shifted for television.
Is that a group of 5 schedule or a Power 5 Schedule in 2018? 1 Big 10 #7 Wisconsin, 4 PAC 12 #14 Washington, #60 Utah, #68 Arizona, #81 Cal but two of the better Group of 5 in #22 Boise St and #55 N. Illinois then 5 teams outside the top 90 in #93 Utah St, #127 Hawaii, #117 U MAss #92 New Mexico St and FCS #22 McNeese ST.
Glad to see they got the Utah game back to the last week, at least for this year. Helps balance out the Pac 12 schedule since USC or Stanford plays ND that week
That is one beast of a road schedule!! BYU isn’t that far behind Norte Dame in assembling quality and rugged games.
They had a hiccup last year but I suspect based on their recruiting, they’ll be back quickly….
Utah-BYU should remain at end of season. Colorado-Air Force should become an annual game and an end of season game too. USC-UCLA and Cal-Stanford should become stapled to the end of the season as well. Let Notre Dame have the week before or some other time in November. Notre Dame can find an annual end of season game as opposed to a rotating one, like Miami (FL). On the MWC side, it should be Hawaii-San Diego St., Fresno St.-San Jose St., Nevada-UNLV, Boise St.-Utah St., Colorado St.-Wyoming, and New Mexico could pair with New Mexico St. (as Air Force has paired with Colorado above).
