Big TenThe Big Ten has named their new divisions the Legends and Leaders, it was announced today. The conference also released a new logo (pictured at right).

With the addition of the Nebraska Cornhuskers, the Big Ten has twelve teams. The conference is now split into two divisions of six and a championship game will pit the two division champs against each other.

The inaugural Big Ten Championship Game will be held on Saturday, December 3, 2011 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Legends – Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Nebraska & Northwestern

Leaders – Illinois, Indiana, Ohio State, Penn State, Purdue & Wisconsin

“‘Legends’ is a nod to our history and to the people associated with our schools who are widely recognized as legends – student-athletes, coaches, alumni and faculty. ‘Leaders’ looks to the future as we remain committed to fostering leaders, the student-athletes who are encouraged to lead in their own way for the rest of their lives, in their families, in their communities and in their chosen professions,” said Delany. “We’re proud of our many legends and even prouder of our member institutions that develop future leaders every day.”

This is the best the great minds of the Big Ten could do? It will take 5 years for people to remember who is in each division and by that time the teams or the division names will probably change.

as a fan of over 30 years i think this iz about the dumbest idea ive ever heard of……the only good thing about this is that these 12 teams match perfectly for this conference….however the division names and how they put the teams the way they did just sucks to sh**…there should be no way you separate ohio st and michigan are u fu^%$&* crazy……just like they did with miami and florida st in the acc….so are you telling me the buckeyes and wolverines could play back to back weeks ? oh and if you change the date of that rival thats just plain stupid…..so here we go with the start of this dumb idea managed by what kind of brains ?…..greed at some of these programs and in the ncaa and media support for playoffs college footballs great rivals are slowly going or gone…..miami/fsu….ou/nebraska….psu/notre dame……now it could soon be in 5 years or more osu/michigan could go………people dont relize when take old rivals and switch them out of divisions in the long run u destroy it…….so this message to you fans up north…..just like in the past and now seeing another ancient rival gone, give it time…michigan and ohio state rival will die just like the ones ive mentioned…..oh yea miami/fsu iz still going but the great electric fire it had iz gone……pitt/notre dame gone……syracuse/penn st gone……..and now what waz left of nebraska/oklahoma is gone…..and when its gone its gone forever…….
………what i want to see is free agent BYU and crying all the time BOISE STATE go join the BIG 12 with TEXAS and OKLAHOMA and MISSOURI and TEXAS A&M and you get the idea……BIG TEN CHANGE THOSE DIVISION NAMES AND ALLIGN THOSE TEAMS UP THE RIGHT WAY.
