The Appalachian State Mountaineers have added the Morgan State Bears to their 2020 football schedule, FBSchedules.com has learned.
Appalachian State will host Morgan State at Kidd-Brewer Stadium in Boone, North Carolina on Sept. 5, 2020. The Bears will receive a $325,000 guarantee for the game, according to a copy of the contract obtained from Appalachian State University via a state public records request.
Morgan State is member of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS). The Bears had a disappointing season in 2017, finishing 1-10 overall and 1-7 in conference play.
The addition of Morgan State tentatively completes Appalachian State’s non-conference football schedule for the 2020 season.
After hosting Morgan State to open 2020, the Mountaineers are slated to play back-to-back games on the road at Wake Forest on Friday, Sept. 11 and at Wisconsin on Sept. 19 before returning home to host UMass on Sept. 26.
Appalachian State is set to open the 2018 season on the road against the Penn State Nittany Lions on Saturday, Sept. 1. The game is set for a 3:30pm ET start on the Big Ten Network.
App State this is not the path, playing Penn State, Wisconsin, Wake Forest is the path and congrats on those games. Invite Liberty who is FBS, or any other weaker FBS team to play a game, not a FCS team and one of the worst FCS teams at that. Strength of Schedule counts for you even if it does not for the big names programs.
G5 schools don’t have the same amount of money to spend as P5 schools. If an FCS school is willing to come cheap, G5s must take it.
