The Alabama State Hornets will play the Miles College Golden Bears in the 2021 Labor Day Classic, the school announced on Thursday.
Alabama State will host Miles College at ASU Stadium in Montgomery, Ala., on Saturday, Sept. 4, 2021. The game will mark the 26th overall meeting between the two schools on the gridiron.
Alabama State and Miles College first met on the gridiron in 1921. The Hornets defeated the Golden Bears in their most recent contest, 26-7 in the 2016 Turkey Day Classic, to extend their advantage in the series to 24-0-1.
“We are excited to welcome Miles back to ASU Stadium,” ASU Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Jennifer Lynne Williams said. “Fans of both universities have enjoyed the in-state rivalry in the past, and we look forward to this year’s Labor Day matchup between the two teams.”
Alabama State is a member of the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS), while Miles College competes in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) in Division II.
In other non-conference action next fall, the Alabama State Hornets will travel to take on the Auburn Tigers on Nov. 20.
The 2021 Spring football schedule for Alabama State kicks off on Friday, Feb. 26 when the Southern Jaguars visit ASU Stadium.
