The South Dakota State Jackrabbits and the Utah Tech Trailblazers have agreed to reschedule their postponed football game in 2020 to the 2024 season, FBSchedules.com has learned.
South Dakota State was previously scheduled to host Utah Tech on Saturday, Nov. 14, 2020, but the game was canceled due to the novel coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.
The Jackrabbits will now host the Trailblazers at Dana J. Dykhouse Stadium in Brookings, S.D., on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2024, according to a copy of the contract amendment obtained from South Dakota State University via a state public records request.
The original contract called for South Dakota State to pay Utah Tech a $200,000 guarantee for the game. Per the terms of the amendment, the Jackrabbits will now pay the Trailblazers a guarantee of $215,000.
South Dakota State now has two scheduled non-conference games for the 2024 season. The Jackrabbits are scheduled to open the season on the road against the Oklahoma State Cowboys on Aug. 31, which we reported on Tuesday.
While not finalized, Utah Tech’s 2024 football schedule now contains seven non-conference opponents. The Trailblazers joined the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) in 2022, so some of their previously scheduled non-conference contests will not be played.
