The 2020 Notre Dame Fighting Irish at Wake Forest Demon Deacons football game has been moved to Truist Field, it was announced on Wednesday.
The game, dubbed the Duke’s Mayo Classic, was originally scheduled to be played at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, N.C. The game will now be played on the campus of Wake Forest at Truist Field in Winston-Salem, N.C., and the date remains Saturday, Sept. 26, 2020.
“With a vibrant Charlotte Wake Forest fan base and as the only ACC school with a campus in the Queen City, we were excited for our student-athletes to have the opportunity to compete at Bank of America Stadium,” Wake Forest Director of Athletics John Currie said. “Under the circumstances, the game will move to Winston-Salem and we will host Notre Dame at Truist Field. We appreciate our friends Danny Morrison and the CSF, as well as the Carolina Panthers, and we look forward to returning to Bank of America Stadium in the future.”
Due to the current guidance from the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Safety, Wake Forest anticipates that fans will not be able to attend the game.
Notre Dame is scheduled to open the 2020 season on Saturday, Sept. 12 at home against the Duke Blue Devils. Wake Forest opens their 2020 season on the same date at home against the top-ranked Clemson Tigers.

No sense playing at an NFL stadium if no fans are going to be there.
