Duke/UNC should be the last game in the schedule, since it is the “rivalry” game; IMO.
My proposal to add Cincinnati and UConn to the ACC would shuffle the end-of-season rivalry games for some teams.
Remaining the same:
All ACC-SEC rivalries
Virginia-Virginia Tech
New to the schedule:
Boston College-UConn
Pitt-Syracuse
Cincinnati-Miami (protected crossover because they were the last two teams remaining without a regular Thanksgiving weekend opponent in the reshuffling)
NC teams take turns playing each other on Thanksgiving
The new divisional setup would be a North Division consisting of the schools in the Northeast, VA and the Ohio Valley, and a South Division consisting of the schools in the Carolinas, Georgia and Florida.
As the North Division would consist primarily of former Big East schools (and be a merger of the two distinct eras of Big East football), I advocate that the ACC North schools (but not the South) all be eligible for the Lambert Trophy as the division is a “suitable successor” to the Big East
Agree with what you said, but swap in Notre Dame for Cincinnati. Notre Dame-Miami ending the season and only protected crossover. Should make ND happy as they end in Florida every other year, which is a recruiting hotbed. ND could alternate their USC/Stanford California trip on the second to last week of the season (weekend before Thanksgiving), and Cal-Stanford and UCLA-USC can return to last week of season. As for the NC rivalries, either go with UNC-NCST and Duke-WF to end season OR UNC-Duke and NCST-WF to end season, but no rotations!
Cal-Stanford categorically refuse to play their game on Thanksgiving weekend because of the traditions surrounding it.
