Ball State University announced Monday that they will travel to South Bend and take on Notre Dame. The game is scheduled for September 8, 2018.
“The opportunity to play one of the most storied programs in college football in a historic stadium will be very special for our student-athletes and everyone else associated with Ball State football,” said Cardinals head coach Pete Lembo in the release.
This game will be the first on the gridiron between the two Hoosier State schools. The universities are separated by fewer than 150 miles.
Notre Dame will have their full allotment of ACC games on the 2018 schedule, along with a November 3rd game at Northwestern and to-be-determined dates versus Navy and Stanford. The only other out-of-conference game scheduled for Ball State in the 2018 season is a September 22nd contest against Western Kentucky in Muncie.
Football Schedules
Having lived in Muncie and South Bend I’m pretty excited that this mat yup is gonna finally happen.
Match up, gotta love auto correct

So, you didn’t have room on your schedule and had to cancel your annual Michigan game, but you found room to fit in Ball State. Way to challenge yourself, ND.
Gee look at Michigan’s schedule in 2020 they play Ball State.
Ball State should have beaten Michigan the last time they played, BSU is no pushover
I have to agree with you. Other than FSU, and Clemson, they play a weak ACC schedule, plus they play Navy. No offense to Navy, but ND has won 48 of the last 51 meetings. They should have kept Michigan on their schedule. A lot of great games, between those 2. This might be the first time, that Ball State will be on a National Network (NBC).
They’ve played primetime on ESPN twice or more.
Don’t forget the annual rumbles against the likes of Temple and Pitt. Please ND fans, don’t ever moan about the SEC or the Big ten’s non-conference. Who the hell do you play?!
USC, Stanford, MSU, Texas, Georgia, Clemson, Florida St, Miami, those would be some of the teams ND plays. And by the way, both Pitt and Temple are far superior than the Div-2 garbage the SEC loads up on.
I’m not moaning but you seem to be groaning quite a bit……me thinks you hammerin a bit too much
Ball State will give Notre Dame everything they can handle and I wouldn’t be shocked if they didn’t beat the most overrated program ever
you’re so full of yourself…..surprised you don’t just float away….
