The Temple Owls have announced their 2012 football schedule, which features games against Maryland, Penn State, Cincinnati, Louisville, Pittsburgh and Rutgers.
The 2012 season will be the first in the Big East for Temple since 2004. The Owls were previously a member of the Big East, but were dismissed from the conference and joined the MAC after two seasons as an Independent.
Temple opens the 2012 season with The Mayor’s Cup against Villanova on Friday, Aug. 31. The Owls also have non-conference games vs. Maryland on Sept. 8, at Penn State on Sept. 22 and at Army on Nov. 17.
According to the official release, Temple “will play 11 games in 2012.” They have the option of adding a 12th game and are actively seeking an opponent according to Kevin McGuire.
Temple kicks off the 2012 Big East season on Oct. 6 at home against the USF Bulls. The Owls continue their conference slate at Connecticut (Oct. 13), vs. Rutgers (Oct. 20), at Pittsburgh (Oct. 27), at Louisville (Nov. 3), and vs. Cincinnati (Nov. 10).
