The Miami Hurricanes and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish have set the dates for their game at Soldier Field and their ensuing home-and-home football series, The Miami-Herald has reported.
The Canes and Irish will meet at Soldier Field in Chicago on October 6, 2012. It will be the first contest between the two schools away from their home stadiums since the 1979 Mirage Bowl in Tokyo, Japan. Notre Dame won that game 40-15.
Notre Dame will host Miami in South Bend on October 8, 2016. The return game will be November 25, 2017 at Miami, which is the Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend.
Miami and Notre Dame have played 23 times since 1955. The Fighting Irish lead the overall series 15-7-1. In their last meeting in South Bend in 1990, Notre Dame beat Miami 29-20.
