The San Diego State Aztecs and the New Mexico State Aggies have scheduled a home-and-home football series for 2019 and 2023, it was announced on Thursday.
In the first game of the series, San Diego State will travel to play New Mexico State at Aggie Memorial Stadium in Las Cruces on Sept. 14, 2019. The Aztecs will then host the Aggies in San Diego on Sept. 2, 2023.
The two schools already have a previous agreement to play in San Diego on Sept. 4, 2021.
San Diego State and New Mexico State first met on the gridiron in 1936 and have played 11 times overall. The Aztecs have won seven straight in the series and lead 9-1-1.
San Diego State was previously scheduled to play at Eastern Michigan on Sept. 28, 2019. As a result of adding NMSU in 2019, SDSU has been pushed back that game in Ypsilanti to Friday, Sept. 3, 2027.
The Aztecs are scheduled to open the 2019 season at home against Weber State on Aug. 31, travel to UCLA on Sept. 7, and later host BYU on Nov. 30.
New Mexico State, which begins playing as an FBS Independent this season, now has 11 games scheduled for the 2019 season.
